Senior Project Refelction

PART I: Two-Hour Presentation
(1) Two-Hour Presentation Student Assessment

I should get a P because I met my 30 min. of content speaking as well I met all the requirements to receive a P.

(2) What are you most proud of in your 2 hour presentation and why?
I am proud of my presentation overall because I was very nervous that I was going to forget some information or that the people were not going to be engaged but they were really good with the activities.
PART II: Overall Senior Project Experience

(3) What do you think you did well on in the project? What could you have done better? Please explain.
I think I did good in my 2 hour presentation. Overall, I could have done more research for my other presentations.

(4) What is your EQ and what is the best answer to your EQ?
My e.q. is what is the most affective way to communicate better with a client in a counseling scenario? My  best answer is therapy room ergonomics because through my own experience it gave me a better perspective of what helps the client communicate better. The surroundings of the room and the stuff in the room do affect the way people communicate.

(5) How has the last month of culminating events (e.g I-Search, Two-Hour, Exit etc) affected your answer to your EQ? Has it changed? Why or why not?

My second independent task made me go towards therapy room ergonomics because the therapist where I did my service learning with emphasized room setting and the surroundings of the room which made several people react a way techniques would not really accomplish.

(6) What suggestions do you have in order to improve the senior project?
For the last things that were due like the I-search, service learning, and work from the core classes was kind of intense because they were due around the same dates.

(7) Overall Senior Project Assessment
For my overall senior project assessment I believe I should get an AP because I did not do so great in the other projects but I didn't fail them so I at least deserve that grade.

Service Learning

(1) LIA Response to blog:
Literal
• I did 50 hours of service learning. I did office work because I was not able to be in the room with the therapist.
• I did my hours with Laura Tanzini a licensed marriage and family therapist cell  (909)240-5096 office (909)596-4212
Interpretive
What is the most important thing you gained from this experience? Why?
The most important thing I gained from this experienced is more knowledge in this field but also a connection with people whom I did not know but yet I knew all their problems. Even though I didn't get to be in the room with her, she gave me the opportunity to attend other things that gave me an experience of therapy.
Applied
How did what you did help you answer your EQ? Please explain.
Well I always asked questions and I got to see a lot of techniques which is one of my answers. As well, I read  lot of books the therapist had in her office that helped me a lot with some things I was uncertain about.
(2) Confirmation of Contact Person, Contact Phone Number, and 50 hours completed

2 hour Presentation Rough Draft

(1) What is your sponge activity?
For my sponge activity I am going to ask the students If you were to be in a therapy room, what would make you feel comfortable? I would give them time for them to write it down and I will ask for them to keep it for my second activity.

(2) What do you plan to do and say in the introduction?*
For the intro I am going to introduce myself, then I am going to define my essential question and finally tell them what the agenda is going to be.
(3) What do you plan to say in your foundation?
For the foundation I will be briefly talk about the history of therapy as well I will talk about the career.
(4) What will your 2 or 3 answers be for your 2 hour?
First Answer: Techniques (Open Chair)
Second Answer: Therapy Room Ergonomics

(5) What activities will you do for each answer and why?
First Activity: I would assign the students different types of techniques which of course I would be explaining during my first answer. The reason why I chose this activity is because it is self explanatory and it gives me a chance to check for understanding.
(6) How do you plan to conclude your 2 hour?*
I will wrap up my presentation by clarifying any misunderstandings and I will say my best answer, my sources, and then my product.

(7) How do you plan to decorate the room?
Well I was thinking of having the lights off and having some candles to light up the room with some soothing background music.
(8) What supplies/resources will you need to make your 2 hour possible?
I will need the laptop, projection screen, and overhead.

Independent Study 2

1) I attended a 7 day workshop on  March 25-27 and April 14-17
2)Posted Evidence

Literal

(a) I, Wendy Erazo, affirm that I completed my independent component which represents 92 hours of work.

(b) I attended Women's Group twice I basically did the same thing as my first component. Laura Tanzini whom was the therapist that I interned for, provided me with the opportunity to attend a 7 day workshop/retreat, which was phenomenal. I am really not allowed to talk about what exactly went on because I actually had to sign a confidentiality contract. I did learn a couple of new techniques and as well I got to meet new people and help them through their tough times.
Interpretive
I did a log as I previously had done. I kept tracked of the days I showed up and the time of arrival and the time I would leave.
Applied
Previously from the retreat I had believed that my best answer was actually techniques, but attending that retreat I got  to experience myself my second answer which is therapy room ergonomics. Basically my whole perspective changed and lead me to change my mind. I did learn new techniques but I got to see that the ergonomics of the room is essential to every person and I was able to observe how each and one of them including myself reacted to different scenarios.

Independent Study 1

1. I went to Women's Group on: 9/23,11/04,11/18,12/02,12/16,1/6,1/13,1/20,1/27 some days I went from 6pm-10pm and others from 7pm-10pm
2. Posted Evidence

 Literal
(a) I, Wendy Erazo, affirm that I completed my independent component which represents 30 hours of work.
(b) I attendded a Women's Group, which we would be in a circle and each person there had to check in and some would talk about anything that it is bugging them and I would listen and sometimes help out with their problems.
Interpretive
Well I did a log and everytime I went the therapist she would sign the paper as well I learned various of things while attending.
Applied
One of my EQ answers is using the proper techniques and another is adequate speaking skills and both of those were well illustrated and I came to a conclusion on what is my best answer. For example, if someone was talking about an issue but didn't really say what they wanted or just didn't know why that happen, the therapist would ask them to sit on the floor with candles and lights off, which helped the client relax and let out what she really felt.
